Tomb Raider Voice Actor May Portray Lara Croft’s Mother in New Prime Video Series

Keeley Hawes, known for her role as the voice of Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider video games, appears to have a secretive part in Amazon’s upcoming TV series.

Recent set photos show Hawes dressed in a trench coat and boots, flanked by enigmatic masked figures. Speculation is swirling that she might portray Lady Amelia Croft, Lara’s mother, also known as the Countess of Abbingdon.

This would be a nostalgic return for Hawes, who first lent her voice to Lara Croft two decades ago in 2006’s Tomb Raider: Legend. She continued to voice the character in several titles, including Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Tomb Raider: Underworld, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris.

In the new series, Sophie Turner will take on the iconic role of Lara Croft, following in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander. The cast also features notable names like Sigourney Weaver, Celia Imrie, and Jason Isaacs.

Turner has mentioned that her interpretation of the adventurous archaeologist will focus less on the character’s physical allure and more on her story and motivations, stating, “it’s about her and her story and what drives her, rather than what so many people also love about her, which is how hot she is in the games and the movies.”

As for the release date of the Tomb Raider TV show, it remains unannounced. In the meantime, gamers can look forward to a variety of upcoming video game adaptations and check out the best new TV shows set to debut in 2026.
