Today, the third Triple-i Initiative Showcase unveiled a slew of exciting new titles, shining a spotlight on independent games. Among the highlights were fresh insights into *Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse* and unexpected new entries in the *Don’t Starve* and *Temtem* franchises.
The Triple-i Initiative, organized by the team behind *Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse*, has been a yearly event for the past three years, aimed at showcasing indie games. It has previously delivered significant announcements, including the reveal of *Slay the Spire 2*. This year’s showcase was no different, featuring new titles like *Temtem: Pioneers* (a survival spinoff of the monster-catching RPG), *Don’t Starve Elsewhere*, and *Prove You’re Human*, the latest from the creators of *1000xResist*. Additionally, new DLC was announced for games such as *Cairn* and *Risk of Rain 2*.
Here are the standout announcements from the Triple-i Initiative Showcase, which highlighted a total of 40 games.
While a release date for *Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse* remains under wraps, we did get a glimpse of gameplay that showcased its action and exploration elements. The game evokes the feel of *Dead Cells*, but is set within a classic 2D Metroidvania framework, with a planned release in 2026.
Following the success of *Temtem* in 2020, developer Crema is taking a page from *Palworld* with *Temtem: Pioneers*. This new entry transforms the monster-catching experience into an open-world adventure, swapping turn-based combat for real-time battles and incorporating survival crafting mechanics. To support its development, Crema has launched a Kickstarter campaign.
The beloved *Don’t Starve* series is expanding with *Don’t Starve Elsewhere*. True to its roots, this survival crafting game challenges players to navigate a perilous and shadowy world. However, no release window was provided at the time of the announcement.
Sunset Visitor, the studio behind *1000xResist*, introduced its next project during the showcase: *Prove You’re Human*. This first-person narrative adventure tasks players with convincing a confused AI robot that it is not human. The surreal trailer features CAPTCHA challenges and a hint of sci-fi horror.
*ClovePit* received a surprise DLC drop today titled *Unholy Fusion*, allowing players to combine charms, with a total of 30 fusions available. This DLC launched alongside a free update that introduces online leaderboards.
The indie hit *Cairn* is set to receive a series of free DLC updates called *On the Trail*. These updates will introduce three new climbing locations, a second playable character named Marco, and the addition of water soloing. The first DLC, titled *Deep Water*, is scheduled for release this summer.
*Graveyard Keeper*, the popular cemetery management sim, is getting a sequel. *Graveyard Keeper 2* is currently in development for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. The sequel retains the core mechanics of the original while transporting players to a new, zombie-infested town. For a limited time, you can grab the original *Graveyard Keeper* for free on your platform of choice.
*Thick as Thieves*, a heist game from industry veteran Warren Spector and OtherSide Entertainment, is set to launch on May 20. Initially conceived as a PvPvE multiplayer experience, the game has been reworked into a mission-based single-player adventure with optional co-op multiplayer.
The *Vampire Survivors*-inspired *Brotato* is gearing up for a new DLC this summer, titled *Primal Dead*, which will take players into the jungle to battle mechs and mutant dinosaurs.
*Risk of Rain 2* is also set to receive new DLC. *Hallowed Concepts* will introduce fresh regions and enemies to the beloved co-op roguelike, though no release window has been announced yet.
