The chess drama The Queen’s Gambit has captivated audiences, but if you’ve ever been curious about the life of a world-class player, this documentary is a must-watch. It chronicles the inspiring true story of Judit Polgár, a Hungarian chess grandmaster who won her first tournament at just six years old and is often hailed as the greatest female chess player ever.
Judit is one of three Polgár sisters, all grandmasters, whose upbringing was shaped by chess as part of their father László Polgár’s experiment to prove that geniuses can be cultivated from a young age. Queen of Chess explores their journey, the sexism they faced, and Judit’s rivalry with the legendary Garry Kasparov.

This delightful buddy comedy, directed by the late Rob Reiner, stars Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. It follows mechanic Carter Chambers (Freeman) and billionaire Edward Cole (Nicholson), two men from vastly different backgrounds who form an unexpected friendship after both receive terminal cancer diagnoses. Together, they embark on a journey to fulfill a bucket list of experiences Chambers always wanted to achieve, including skydiving, visiting the Taj Mahal, and riding motorcycles on the Great Wall of China.
This heartwarming film features Nicholson in one of his final roles and is the origin of the term “bucket list,” coined by writer Justin Zackham.

This gender-swapped remake of the ’80s classic Overboard! flips the romantic comedy on its head. In the original, a wealthy socialite suffers amnesia after falling off her yacht and eventually falls for a working-class carpenter. In the new version, Kate Sullivan (Anna Faris) is a widowed single mom juggling two jobs while pursuing a nursing career. After being fired by arrogant playboy Leo (Eugenio Derbez), she gets her chance for revenge when he experiences a similar mishap to the original character.
While it may tread into “problematic” territory, there’s still plenty of fun to be had. Anna Faris shines as always, supported by Eva Longoria in a lighthearted film perfect for a Sunday evening.
