Top 7 Highlights from Apple WWDC 2026
Apple’s keynote at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference was packed with exciting announcements. After a series of delays, the tech giant unveiled its revamped AI-powered Siri, which promises to deliver a more personalized experience than ever before. Alongside this, we got a glimpse of various updates rolling out across the operating systems for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Siri’s AI Overhaul
Siri is set to receive a host of new AI features, thanks to the latest iteration of Apple Intelligence, developed in collaboration with Google. Dubbed Siri AI, the upgraded assistant will enable users to engage in more dynamic conversations, providing detailed and engaging responses, as highlighted by Apple AI head Mike Rockwell during the keynote. Beyond just voice commands, Siri AI will offer image editing and writing tools, utilizing onscreen context to enhance its answers. A standalone Siri AI app will also be introduced, allowing users to access their conversation history. This upgrade will be available across all Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro.
iOS 27 Introduces AI Enhancements
With iOS 27, users can access the new Siri AI by swiping down from the Dynamic Island, where responses will also be displayed. The update includes a “Siri Mode” in the Camera app, capable of recognizing objects in the viewfinder and providing additional information. Additionally, a new opacity slider for Apple’s Liquid Glass design will be introduced, and iOS 27 will support devices starting from the iPhone 11.
macOS 27 Golden Gate Integrates Siri into Spotlight
macOS 27 Golden Gate is also receiving a significant AI update, integrating Siri directly into the Spotlight menu. This allows users to ask questions right in the search bar and inquire about specific files. Similar to iOS 27, macOS will feature a new slider for adjusting the Liquid Glass design, tighter window corner radii, and a return of colorful sidebar icons.
Safari Enhancements with AI Tab Management
During the keynote, Apple showcased several new features for Safari, including an AI-driven tab management system that organizes open webpages by topic. A new “Notify Me” feature will alert users to changes on webpages, such as product restocks, and Safari will automatically update compromised passwords. Users can also request Safari to create extensions simply by describing them in natural language.
Apple Intelligence Updates Across Apps
In Messages, a new feature will suggest photos to share based on the conversation context, while the Phone app will provide relevant information, like flight confirmation codes, at the start of calls. Mail will offer improved suggestions and allow users to add events to their Calendar through simple descriptions. Other enhancements include the ability to create custom shortcuts using natural language and utilize Apple’s Image Playground for AI-driven photo edits, such as composition changes and distraction removal.
Home App Gains 4K Support
The Home app is also getting a significant upgrade, enabling it to generate descriptions of camera clips and stitch footage from multiple cameras using AI. Users will be able to view recorded clips in 4K resolution on supported cameras and search through clips using natural language.
New Parental Controls and Screen Time Redesign
Apple is overhauling its parental control system, allowing parents to select which apps and content their children can access when enrolled in a child account. Additionally, kids will need to request permission before opening new websites. The Screen Time menu has also been redesigned for easier management of kids’ phone usage.
