The Super Mario Galaxy Movie continues to surprise with its leaks, as fans have spotted a classic character from the original Super Smash Bros. games in a toy designed for the new film.

On social media, one fan shared a photo of a toy featuring Mario and Princess Peach, complete with Super Mario Galaxy Movie branding. However, a little robot can be seen peeking from the side of the packaging. This little metallic character is none other than R.O.B. the Robot.

R.O.B., or Robotic Operating Buddy, first appeared as an accessory for the NES and later made appearances in titles like the 1996 Super Mario RPG, the Wario series, and the Mario Kart games. Initially introduced as a reluctant antagonist, R.O.B. eventually became an ally to Mario and friends. The toy suggests that R.O.B. might play a role in guiding Mario through his galactic adventures.

This isn’t the first time secrets from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie have leaked in unexpected ways. The film’s cosmic setting was inadvertently revealed on a box of Pillsbury cookies, showcasing Mario floating in space alongside franchise newcomer Yoshi. Prior to that, the sequel’s title was leaked through a Yoshi-themed Old Spice deodorant carton.

If R.O.B. makes it into the film, he will join a roster of new characters, including Rosalina and Bowser Jr., voiced by Brie Larson and Benny Safdie, respectively. The full-length Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer also gave us our first look at Yoshi and Mouser. Fans can expect even more surprises, as Chris Pratt hinted that “there’s even a couple more that are not in the trailer that people should be excited to see.”

Returning cast members include Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are back to direct, with a script penned by Matthew Fogel.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is set to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
