Twitch Streamers Gain Option to Exclude Their Content from Amazon’s AI Training
Twitch users now have the option to prevent their content from being utilized in the training of Amazon’s generative AI models. By opting out, you ensure that “your streams, VODs, clips, stream chats, and pictures and text on your channel” will not be included in the “future training” of any Amazon AI model designed to generate or synthesize text, audio, images, or video, as stated on a Twitch support page.
If you choose to opt out, other AI-enhanced features like captions and safety tools will still be available. However, when participating in a chat on someone else’s stream, the preferences set by that streamer will determine whether the chat can be used for training purposes.
You can find the “Training for Generative AI” toggle in the Security and Privacy section of Twitch’s settings. It was enabled by default when I checked, and I’ve reached out to Amazon to confirm if that’s the standard setting.
Here’s what Amazon says about the toggle:
> Allow your channel content to train generative AI content models at Amazon. Turning this off does not opt you out of Twitch and Amazon using your channel content for other purposes described in the Twitch Privacy Notice, including using AI-supported Twitch features that benefit the community by facilitating streamer growth and monetization (such as real-time sponsorship campaign assistance), viewer discovery (such as recommendations), and community safety (such as AutoMod).
