Twitch’s Gambling-Focused Competitor Launches App on Xbox

Earlier today, Kick, the streaming platform often in the spotlight for its gambling ties and controversial content, announced a new partnership with Xbox.

The announcement was brief, featuring an image of two individuals shaking hands, one of whom is holding a console box labeled “video game system” with “Kick” prominently displayed, while the Xbox logo is partially obscured. The accompanying text simply states: “kick [handshake emoji]xbox.”

Kick has now launched a dedicated app for Xbox consoles, which has been confirmed. The app’s description highlights:

“KICK’s a live streaming platform where creators kick it with their communities. (Yeah, we said the thing…).

Our creators march to the beat of their own drum, as do we, disrupting our opps with a 95-5 subscription split, our creator incentive program, and the freedom to multistream.

That’s why the likes of xQc, Asmongold, and MaxHolloway all pick KICK.”

Over time, Kick has gained a reputation as the go-to platform for streamers who have faced bans or controversies on Twitch, providing a haven for those with a history of problematic behavior. It has attracted high-profile creators like Felix “xQc” Lengyel, Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff, and Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa, often with lucrative deals.

Kick’s community guidelines are notably lenient, allowing streamers like Adin Ross, who faced an indefinite ban on Twitch in 2023 for failing to control hate speech in his chat (a ban that was later lifted), to find a new audience. Ross famously streamed an interview with former President Donald Trump on Kick, where he presented Trump with a Rolex and a Cybertruck wrapped in a Trump-themed design.

Reports have surfaced about Ross using Kick to stream content from adult sites and to give a platform to an anonymous neo-Nazi.

Tragically, earlier this year, French streamer Raphaël “Jeanpormanove” Graven passed away in his sleep following a prolonged “humiliation” livestream on Kick, during which he was assaulted by several individuals.

Kick is also closely linked to the gambling site Stake, co-founded by Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani, who are also behind Kick. Currently, over 81,000 viewers are tuned into the “Slots and Casino” category on Kick, especially since Twitch banned gambling content in 2022.

As of now, there is no Kick app available on the PlayStation Store.
