Ubisoft Affirms Commitment to Beyond Good & Evil 2 Development

Ubisoft has confirmed that it is actively developing the long-awaited sci-fi sequel, Beyond Good & Evil 2. This announcement comes after reports indicated that the game survived a significant restructuring that led to the cancellation of seven other titles, including a remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

In an email on January 22, Ubisoft reassured that Beyond Good & Evil 2, which was first revealed back in 2008 and has made several appearances since, is still in the works and has not been scrapped. The studio, known for franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six Siege, also emphasized that the Beyond Good & Evil series remains a key part of its newly restructured vision. A spokesperson stated, “As mentioned in yesterday’s press release, Beyond Good & Evil will be part of Creative House 4, dedicated to immersive fantasy worlds and narrative-driven universes. Beyond Good & Evil 2 remains a priority for us in the context of our strategy centered around Open World Adventures.”

The initial tease for Beyond Good & Evil 2 dates back to 2008, featuring a trailer that hinted at early gameplay. However, that version has since been abandoned. In 2017, Ubisoft reintroduced the project, transforming it into a large-scale open-world sci-fi experience that serves as a prequel to the 2003 action-platformer. Despite facing challenges, including the departure of its creative director in 2023, the game is still on track for development.

As of now, Ubisoft has not provided any details regarding the launch date or the platforms for Beyond Good & Evil 2, leaving fans in anticipation.
