Ubisoft’s Upcoming Fall Release Faces Two-Month Delay

Rayman Legends Retold isn’t just another title for Ubisoft this fall; it’s their sole new release aside from Just Dance: Decades of Hits. However, it has recently faced a significant delay, even though the game was previously declared finished. Initially scheduled for an October 1 launch, the remake will now hit the shelves on December 3.

The development team shared their decision on X, stating, “While the game has officially gone gold, we have decided to take extra time to make sure every detail gets the care it deserves. In the meantime, we can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been working on, starting with a Game Overview trailer on September 22. That same day, a selection of creators and press will share fresh hands-on impressions.”

Rayman Legends Retold is a remake of the beloved 2013 platformer Rayman Legends, preserving much of the original’s design and gameplay while enhancing it with 3D visuals powered by Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine. Earlier hands-on experiences have been positive, making this unexpected delay all the more surprising as the team aims to resolve any lingering issues.

This last-minute postponement is particularly noteworthy since Ubisoft, a major player in the gaming industry, has no other significant new titles launching this fall. Their only other releases include Just Dance: Decades of Hits, the 18th installment in the long-running rhythm series, and a Switch 2 port of The Crew Motorfest, which debuted in 2023.

Delays have become a recurring challenge for Ubisoft in recent years. Titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows missed their release dates due to concerns over polish, and new entries in the Far Cry and Ghost Recon franchises have also experienced extended development times. These setbacks have led to financial difficulties, prompting the company to seek external funding and undergo restructuring, resulting in layoffs and studio closures.
