Unlocking the Shopping Plaza on Harv’s Island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Among the exciting features introduced in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update is the ability to establish a shopping plaza, located on Harv’s Island rather than your own. To kick things off, you’ll want to make your way to Harv’s Island by visiting the airport and selecting the option to fly. Make sure to bring at least 100,000 bells to streamline the process. Upon arrival, Wilbur will mention that Harvey is missing, but you can follow the newly created path to the right of the house, where you’ll find both Harvey and Harriet. Harvey will share his vision for a shopping plaza in this area and explain that he needs some financial backing—specifically, your bells. Each shop requires a donation of 100,000 bells to open.
Scattered around the plaza are Lloid gyroids, each marking a potential shop location. While you can eventually open all the shops, you can only donate to one per day. Once you contribute the necessary bells to your chosen shop, it will open the following day.
What shops can you expect? Engaging with each Lloid will provide a brief overview of the shop that will open once you donate enough. Here’s a rundown of the shops, starting from the bottom-left:
– **Katrina**: The mysterious fortune-teller who will share your daily fortune.
– **Sahara**: A merchant offering a variety of rugs and unique wallpapers, serving as a permanent home for this familiar visitor.
– **Tortimer**: The former mayor who grants you access to your home storage from Harv’s Island.
– **Cyrus and Reese**: This talented couple will allow you to customize furniture that isn’t normally customizable, using bells instead of kits.
– **Leif**: A botany expert where you can purchase items for the new cooking and farming features of the update.
– **Redd**: A somewhat dubious art dealer where you can buy art and select furniture items.
– **Kicks**: The go-to for stylish shoes, bags, and backpacks.
If you’re unsure which shop to open first, Leif is a solid choice. He offers seeds for wheat and other new plants, which will take time to grow. Unlocking Leif early will enhance your experience with the farming and cooking elements of the update.
Additionally, once the plaza is up and running, Harriet will be available to give you a random new haircut. You can receive one new style per day, and once you do, it becomes a permanent option for your character.
