Unveiling the New Horror Film The Mummy: Decode a Hidden Message in Morse Code!
Warner Bros. has unveiled the first glimpse of The Mummy, the upcoming horror flick directed by Lee Cronin of Evil Dead Rise fame, and it looks set to deliver some serious scares. To ramp up the excitement, Cronin shared a cryptic message on social media that requires a bit of Morse code knowledge to decode.
Luckily, he didn’t leave us in the dark for long, revealing the hidden message along with a key for translation. The quote reads, “In ancient Egyptian civilization, dark spirits and visions of the dead were never an illusion. Some that passed over were gone forever, but an unlucky few were consumed by a darkness far more evil than anyone could have ever imagined. Today it begins.”
Until now, details about The Mummy’s storyline were kept tightly under wraps, but thanks to the promotional material and a synopsis, we now know it follows a journalist named Jack Reynor, who tragically loses his daughter Katie (Natalie Grace) while on assignment in the desert. Fast forward eight years, and Katie mysteriously returns, leading the family to discover that not all reunions are filled with joy.
The supporting cast includes Shylo Molina, May Elghety, Hayat Camille, Verónica Falcón, Laia Costa, and May Calamawy.
In a conversation, Cronin described the film as having elements of “one part Poltergeist,” due to its focus on family dynamics, and “one part David Fincher’s Seven,” thanks to its dark, investigative themes. We’re eager to see what he has crafted for us.
Mark your calendars: Lee Cronin’s The Mummy hits theaters on April 17.
