Valorant’s latest map and mode reignite my excitement to dive back in.

During the Valorant Masters London esports event on June 21, Riot Games unveiled exciting details about what players can look forward to in Act 4 of Season 2026, launching on June 24. The standout features of this upcoming update include a brand-new map called Summit and a limited-time 3v3 game mode named Retake.

Set in the Chinese training academy and monastery where Sage honed her skills, the Summit map is highlighted in its cinematic reveal trailer, showcasing her prominently. This three-lane map features two spike sites but aims to offer a more dynamic experience compared to some of Valorant’s existing maps. Players will encounter three droppable walls that can be activated to alter pathways and sightlines during matches.

To encourage players to dive into the new map, there will be a Summit-only queue available for its first week, and the rank rating penalty for losses on Summit will be reduced by 50% for the initial two weeks of Act 4.

It’s been a while since I last played Valorant, as the competitive nature and the constant need to optimize weapon purchases each round eventually led to burnout. While Summit isn’t quite enough to reignite my interest, the new 3v3 mode Retake has definitely piqued my curiosity.

In Retake, players will skip the usual spike planting and weapon buying between rounds. Instead, each round features randomized loadouts, and players must either attack or defend an already-planted spike. With its quicker pace and focus on randomness, I’m definitely tempted to jump back into Valorant to try out Retake.

Valorant is available on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, with Act 4 of Season 2026 set to kick off on June 24. Additionally, the Blackspyre Collection skinline and a new battle pass will launch alongside Act 4.
