Vinland Saga Creator Clarifies: No News on Season 3 Production Yet

The anticipation for Vinland Saga season 3 continues as creator Makoto Yukimura addresses a rumor regarding the anime’s production status.

“To all the Vinland Saga fans, thank you as always,” Yukimura shared on Twitter. “I just found out that there’s a rumor circulating that season 3 of the anime is currently in production. However, I haven’t received any confirmation about that yet. I hope it is in production… But animating Hild’s crossbow and all those details must be quite challenging, right?”

He added in a follow-up post, “I think the rumor stems from the many fans eager for season 3. Thank you. I’m also among those who want it. Now that I have some free time, I can lend a hand on the production side, like running out to grab lunch boxes or something.”

Yukimura has been writing and illustrating the Vinland Saga manga from 2005 to 2025. The first season of the anime adaptation premiered in 2019, followed by the second season in 2023.

The initial season centers on Thorfinn, who becomes a mercenary for the Vikings seeking revenge for his father’s death. The second season shifts focus to a later time in Thorfinn’s life, where he encounters Einar, a farmer whose family has also suffered tragedy.

As we await the arrival of Vinland Saga season 3, keep an eye out for the best new anime set to debut in 2026.
