Vivo X500 Pro Max Offers Impressive 17 Stops of Dynamic Range and 4K240 Slow Motion Capabilities

Vivo has just unveiled its latest flagship X500 series smartphones in China, and as expected, the spotlight is on their photography capabilities. The standout model, the X500 Pro Max, introduces a new level in the lineup, featuring cutting-edge sensors and silicon from Sony and MediaTek that promise remarkable dynamic range and slow-motion video capabilities.

At the heart of the X500 Pro Max is Sony’s innovative Lytia L910 image sensor, which is the first to utilize LOFIC technology for enhanced dynamic range. This 50-megapixel, 1/1.28-inch sensor boasts what Vivo describes as “true 17 EV ultra-high dynamic range,” surpassing the 16.5 stops offered by competitors. The impressive 200-megapixel telephoto lens from the X300 Ultra makes a return, complete with support for a 400mm teleconverter lens.

Both the X500 Pro and Pro Max are powered by MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9600 Pro chip, while the base X500 features the 9600M variant. The 2nm Pro chip not only enhances performance but also enables 4K slow-motion video recording at 240fps. Additionally, it supports 10-bit Log recording and introduces new cinematic video styles.

Display sizes vary from the compact 6.36-inch Pro to the larger 6.85-inch Pro Max, with the base X500 positioned in between. All three models come equipped with OLED displays and silicon-carbon batteries ranging from 6,510mAh to 8,000mAh, running on Vivo’s OriginOS 7 software. While today’s launch is exclusive to China, a global release is on the horizon, though the exact timing remains unconfirmed.
