Walmart’s New Promo Offers a Secure Way to Purchase the Pokémon 30th Anniversary TCG Set at Launch
We’re just days away from the highly anticipated launch of the Pokémon 30th anniversary trading card game set, and fans everywhere are gearing up to snag the new products. While some have successfully pre-ordered from various retailers, many others are facing uncertainty as September 16 approaches. Fortunately, Walmart has introduced a new raffle system that offers a convenient way to purchase the 30th anniversary set without the hassle of waiting in line or constantly calling stores.
Since late August, Walmart has been testing this raffle system. They announce a schedule of products that will be available for raffle, and on the designated day, fans have a few hours to express their interest. After the window closes, Walmart randomly selects winners, who are then charged for the items they signed up for.
While it’s not a flawless system—winners may have to wait up to 72 hours to find out if they were selected—it’s a significant improvement over Walmart’s previous chaotic online drops, where customers often waited for hours only to find that items had sold out before they reached the front of the line.
Walmart is raffling the following TCG items:
In past raffles, there were limits of five and three items, but due to high demand, the new set may have smaller limits.
Customers can enter the drawing starting on September 16 at 2:00 PM PDT, with the process typically lasting around two hours. Charges will be processed on the payment method linked to your account, usually starting at 8 AM PDT the following morning. More winners will be selected within 72 hours after the raffle closes, but you won’t be notified if you weren’t selected; only winners receive a confirmation email.
To maximize your chances, it’s a good idea to double-check your Walmart profile. You don’t want to win the raffle only to have payment issues or discover that your shipping address is outdated.
This raffle offers a low-stakes opportunity to purchase the new set, allowing you to control your spending. If you don’t win, you lose nothing; if you do, you can buy the items at close to the manufacturer’s suggested retail price without leaving your home.
Walmart can be unpredictable compared to other major retailers. While stores will have the new Pokémon set available during the week of September 14, it may not be on the exact release day or right at opening. Some locations might put out new TCG products a day or two early, while others stick to the release date but wait for the vendor to restock. The best approach is to call your local store on release day or follow restock groups on social media for updates. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also check in person. The good news is that you can enter the raffle and visit the store simultaneously!
Walmart will also receive Ascended Heroes during the same week the 30th anniversary products launch.
