Warcraft 3 Unveils Its First New Campaign in Over Two Decades

Warcraft 3 has just received an exciting new campaign, as Forsaken Kingdom was unexpectedly released for the Reforged version of the classic real-time strategy game during BlizzCon 2026.

Forsaken Kingdom is a two-part adventure that takes players deep into the Undercity, revealing the origins of its name while reintroducing the Scarlet Crusade and familiar faces like Sylvanas. This campaign promises over thirty hours of gameplay and introduces a new neutral hero unit: the Forsaken Paladin. For fans eager for more storytelling within the Warcraft universe beyond World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, this is a welcome addition. The narrative will even lay the groundwork for World of Warcraft Forever.

This marks the first official campaign addition to the game in quite some time. The last campaign, The Frozen Throne, was an expansion for Reign of Chaos, and it’s been 23 years since then. In that time, fans have only seen a failed mobile game, remasters of the first two Warcraft titles, and a disappointing remake of Warcraft 3.

In addition to Forsaken Kingdom, a significant free update for Warcraft 3 Reforged has also been released. This update addresses lingering bugs, enhances the map-making world editor, introduces a new definitive edition graphics mode, and allows players to select up to 24 units at once. It seems Blizzard is making a concerted effort to improve the much-criticized Warcraft 3 Reforged.

You might recall that Warcraft 3 Reforged fell short of expectations upon its launch in January 2020. Initially marketed as an ambitious reimagining of one of Blizzard’s iconic titles, the remake ended up looking worse than its predecessor, plagued with bugs, limiting players’ ownership of their creations in the map editor, and lacking the promised new narrative content.

If you’ve been hesitant to try Reforged due to its rocky reputation, now could be the perfect time to dive in. Both the original Warcraft 3 and Warcraft 3: Reforged are available for Windows PC. You can grab a bundle that includes Warcraft 3 and Forsaken Kingdom, or opt to purchase Forsaken Kingdom separately.

Bringing 2002 into 2020 didn’t go so well.
