Warframe Team Celebrates Matt Mercer’s Involvement as a Dream Come True

Famed voice actor and Critical Role GM Matt Mercer is set to join the impressive voice cast of Warframe, as confirmed during TennoCon 2026. He will lend his voice to Brysko, the latest playable Warframe, who embodies a noir-themed detective persona.

Brysko took the spotlight during the Warframe: Taudemo showcased at TennoCon. The demo begins with players piloting a massive humanoid vessel to Tau, where we see Albrecht Entrati repairing Brysko. He quickly dons gauntlets that enhance his agility for close-quarters combat. Brysko then embarks on a covert mission in the city of Fornax, where he encounters Hunra, the Sentient ruler of Tau, and engages in several intense battles.

Players will also get a glimpse of a casino where they can participate in minigames, including a card game that Hunra challenges Brysko to. Additionally, there seems to be a romantic subplot involving Brysko and the casino’s lounge singer, though the full significance of this relationship remains unclear.

In true noir fashion, Brysko’s inner monologue serves as the narrative thread that propels the story forward. This highlights the importance of Mercer’s performance in the upcoming Tau expansion. It also marks a long-awaited collaboration, as Warframe’s creative director Rebecca Ford has been eager to bring Mercer into the game for quite some time, having crossed paths with him at The Game Awards over the years.

“If you spend enough time here in London, Ontario, you start to feel isolated, and you rarely get to meet your heroes. Once a year, we go to The Game Awards, and every year I meet Matt, and I’m always like, ‘Can we please do something?’” Ford shared. “‘I’m not in LA, I’m never here, it would just be a dream come true. I have the perfect piece of Warframe mythos for you to put your mark on as a brand new character.’ It finally worked out after they let us out of Canada for just one day a year.”

While Ford downplays the effort involved in recruiting actors like Mercer, community director Megan Everett likened Ford’s talent for voice actor recruitment to Thanos collecting the Infinity Stones in Avengers: Infinity War.

Everett praised Mercer’s contributions to Critical Role and his work in games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

“I think the greatest thing about it is that it’s all organic, having to just be in the right place or know someone who knows someone,” Everett noted. “There are really fun, crazy moments that lead to these amazing experiences. I don’t know how we keep getting away with it, but having the ‘Infinity Stones’ of people we love, appreciate, and respect in this industry in our game has been incredibly rewarding, and I hope players enjoy Matt Mercer’s performance.”

Matt Mercer will join Warframe as part of the Tau expansion, set to launch in 2026. To dive into this new content, players will need to be up to date with all of Warframe’s story missions.
