Wario64 Faces Quick Ban and Reinstatement Following Rayman Leak
Online deals expert Wario64, who has likely assisted many in snagging a PS5 or Switch 2, faced a brief ban (and subsequent reinstatement) last night after sharing a link to a store page for the unannounced Rayman Origins Enhanced.
Around 1:30 a.m. ET on June 3, Wario64 took to Bluesky to announce that he received a DMCA takedown notice after posting a screenshot of the Rayman Origins: Enhanced Xbox store page a few days prior, along with a link to the page before the game’s official announcement. It’s important to note that Wario64 didn’t engage in any sneaky tactics or hacking to reveal this information, nor did he violate any embargo. He simply shared a link and a screenshot of a store page that went live earlier than Ubisoft intended.
On Wario64’s official Discord server, the beloved account that frequently shares deals and news provided more context about the situation. He sought assistance and explained that Bluesky had flagged him for a community guidelines violation due to the Rayman store page post. Following this, Bluesky removed Wario64’s post due to the DMCA takedown. In a strange turn of events, Bluesky issued a warning but still suspended his account, as noted by Bluesky Bans.
“Not sure what to do except reply to the email that I was given,” Wario64 stated. “But I’m guessing any noise on Bluesky about the suspension may speed up an appeals process. As far as I know, that Xbox Store listing was public and accessible to anyone, so I don’t really agree with the takedown, but nobody at Ubisoft asked me to take it down.”
It appears that many users bombarded the Bluesky moderation team with complaints, or someone realized the mistake, because less than 30 minutes after his suspension, Wario64 was back online, posting around 2:00 a.m. EST: “Well, I think that worked.”
And thus, the brief and dark period without Wario64 came to an end. Here’s hoping it never happens again.
