Well-Known Slay The Spire Streamer Parts Ways with Talent Agency Following Criticism of Army-Sponsored Twitch Streams

FrostPrime, a popular content creator known for his work in *Slay the Spire* and boasting over 160,000 followers on Twitch, has revealed that he was “dropped” by his talent agency after refusing to cease his criticism of fellow streamer Dan Gheesling, who is also represented by the same agency.

To provide some context, on September 21, Gheesling faced backlash for participating in a U.S. Army-sponsored game show that was streamed to his all-ages audience on Twitch. His long-time collaborator, Northernlion, addressed the sponsorship during a subsequent stream, stating, “It would be unacceptable if it was just sponsored by the Army, but steeped, head to toe, in the imagery, and making it look so awesome—It’s so far beyond the bounds of what is acceptable to me.”

After his initial comments, Northernlion largely stepped back from the controversy, which aligns with his usual approach of steering clear of Twitch drama. His fans appreciate him for avoiding unnecessary conflicts, but he felt compelled to speak out due to his 14-year friendship with Gheesling.

Gheesling responded in a stream shortly after Northernlion’s, offering a half-hearted apology that many felt fell flat. He spent the first 150 minutes of his stream addressing viewer questions before switching to a speedrun of *The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past*.

During this time, Gheesling revealed that several friends, fellow creators, and even some moderators had distanced themselves from him following his initial apology. He maintained his “apolitical” stance while fielding questions, and when asked if his involvement with the U.S. Army-sponsored streams indicated support for the administration, he deflected, stating it wasn’t a topic he wanted to discuss.

Viewers pressed him on his claim of being unaware that participating in a U.S. Army-sponsored stream was political. In response, Gheesling attempted to clarify his reasoning, saying, “I have family that has served in the military. I have family that’s in the military. From my perspective, and I’m trying to keep it private, there are people that believe in every different thing that are in the military… So that’s why I’m like, OK, [the U.S. Army] represents everyone. That was my thought going into it.”

FrostPrime was not alone in his criticism; he had been vocal about Gheesling’s U.S. Army sponsorship in both Gheesling’s Twitch chat and Discord server. On September 22, he shared a video on his YouTube channel detailing how he was contacted by the CEO of GG Talent Group, who urged him to stop discussing Gheesling. FrostPrime refused, stating, “I said no—I would not stop talking about Dan, because he is a content creator that has been affiliated with my channel for five-plus years.”

He continued, “People associate us together, and I’m gonna be getting constant questions throughout the coming days about whether or not I support the actions that he did. And no, I do not support the actions—I think it’s one of the most disgusting and despicable things that I think I’ve ever seen anyone close to me in the streaming space do. To take a pro-genocide sponsorship is undeniably, abhorrently disgusting.”

FrostPrime then recounted that the CEO of GG Talent Group essentially warned him to comply or face consequences. Following his refusal, he announced that he is “no longer with [the] agency,” citing his stance against genocide, his support for Palestine, and his opposition to the U.S. military and war as reasons for his departure.
