While Anticipating the Ocarina of Time Remake, Check Out Soccerina of Time!

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is set to drop next month, sparking plenty of nostalgia for the quirky and memorable elements of the nearly 30-year-old classic. While I’ve already delved into its oddball characters and the iconic Gerudo Valley theme, a recent YouTube recommendation led me to a romhack that showcases a brilliantly punny twist on the original.

Introducing… Soccerina of Time:

Yes, you read that right! This romhack, created by shonj352, transforms the world of Ocarina of Time into a soccer field where you can choose from eight teams made up of familiar characters. The team names are a delightful mix, featuring Kakariko City, Zora United, and Kokiri FC. You can also play on various fields, including one set in Kokiri Forest and another in Gerudo Town.

The animations are a riot, especially when you see the characters running around in their goofy ways. One standout moment is when a player gets injured and is carried off on a stretcher by two teammates. And let’s not forget Dampe in goal—his antics are hilarious, as are the construction workers darting across the pitch. It’s all incredibly entertaining.

Beyond just casual matches, this romhack includes additional features like a character creator, league mode, adjustable difficulty settings, and a manager mode that lets you focus on team tactics rather than controlling individual players. The latest patch notes even mention quirky additions like “trial and jail systems,” “new career-ending injuries,” and custom music. Seriously, what could land you in jail in this game?

As this is still a relatively new project for shonj352, the best way to stay updated is through the Hylian Modding Discord. If you’re feeling the Hyrule vibes leading up to the remake but want a break from traditional adventure gameplay, this romhack offers a hilarious and entertaining alternative to explore.
