Wing Expands Drone Delivery Service to 150 Additional Walmart Locations

Wing is set to expand its drone delivery service to even more Walmart locations in 2026. The company, part of Alphabet, revealed that its drones will soon be operational at over 150 additional sites, including new cities like Los Angeles, St. Louis, Miami, and Cincinnati.

Back in June 2025, it was announced that the partnership would grow to include 100 more stores in cities such as Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. Currently, Wing has already launched services at several Walmart locations in Atlanta, as well as in Dallas-Fort Worth and Arkansas. With today’s update, the aim is to create a network of 270 Walmart stores equipped with Wing drone delivery by 2027.

If Wing meets its ambitious timeline, it would mark a major leap from what has been a relatively small-scale experiment in drone delivery. Companies in this space argue that utilizing small electric multi-rotor aircraft for deliveries can reduce the need for polluting trucks in the last-mile delivery process. This concept is also being promoted by sidewalk robot companies that deliver food orders in cities like Los Angeles.

Wing reports that not only is it expanding to more cities, but the demand for its service is also on the rise. The company noted that its top 25% of customers place orders three times a week, with deliveries increasing threefold in the past six months.

The flagship drone from Wing can carry payloads of up to 2.5 pounds, while newer models can handle up to 5 pounds. These drones are capable of completing a 12-mile round trip at speeds of up to 65 mph. They utilize tethers and hooks to pick up small bags and lightweight cardboard boxes from designated spots in Walmart parking lots, delivering them directly to customers’ front lawns.

Since its launch in 2012, Wing has successfully completed 750,000 deliveries and also partners with DoorDash for drone deliveries in Dallas and Charlotte, North Carolina.
