Witcher 3 Remastered Pirates Urge Each Other to Purchase the Game Instead
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is now live on PC, and as expected, it’s making its rounds on piracy sites. This isn’t just a case of a quick game crack; it’s the result of releasing a title without digital rights management (DRM) software. For many developers, this would be a launch day disaster, but CD Projekt Red intentionally chose this route, gaining significant goodwill from players who might otherwise opt for free downloads.
In forums like Crack Watch, some users are openly taking the game without paying. However, the majority are encouraging each other to support CD Projekt Red and its consumer-friendly practices.
“Honestly, CDPR is the most consumer-friendly company around; I would encourage everyone to buy it,” one highly upvoted comment stated.
“Even the pirates recognize and honor games like these,” another user added.
“Feels bad to pirate this gem, not gonna lie,” a third admitted.
The absence of DRM is just one reason pirates are drawn to this title; they also appreciate CD Projekt Red’s history of generosity towards fans. When The Witcher 3 first launched, the developer offered some DLC for free. Later, when they released paid expansions, they were substantial yet reasonably priced, giving players great value, especially considering the base game was already a massive RPG.
While the developer faced some backlash after the troubled launch of Cyberpunk 2077, they worked hard to improve the game and released solid DLC content, gradually restoring their reputation. The announcement of The Witcher 3 Remastered helped solidify their return to favor, especially since most players can download the new version and its impressive quality-of-life enhancements for free. Still, pirates are quick to remind others that this doesn’t justify stealing the game.
“I would encourage everyone to buy it; there’s a 50% sale on right now,” one pirate noted.
Many users claim they won’t download the crack because they previously pirated it and were so impressed that they eventually purchased it. The game has been discounted so often that some pirates are baffled by anyone who hasn’t bought it yet.
“IS THERE A SINGLE PERSON on the planet who doesn’t have this in some form?” one user questioned. “The game is constantly on heavy, like HEAVY discounts.”
Even with discounts, buying the game isn’t feasible for everyone. Given the current state of PC gaming, some may find themselves unable to run it anyway.
“Now I just need to be able to pirate a 5080 or better to even run this with the recommended specs,” one pirate joked.
The Witcher 3 remains an unfinished masterpiece, even in its revamped edition.
