Wolverine’s Marvel Tōkon Suit Highlights Logan’s Short Stature

This year, two major games featuring Wolverine are on the horizon. First up is his solo adventure from Insomniac, and alongside that, he’ll also be a playable character in Arc System Works’ fighter, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Marvel is all about brand synergy, so both studios are including costumes inspired by each other’s take on Wolverine. The inclusion of the Tōkon suit in Insomniac’s game finally settles the debate about Logan’s height—he’s definitely a short king.

This exciting crossover was announced during the Marvel’s Wolverine: Deep Cuts panel at San Diego Comic Con, where Insomniac shared details about the upcoming action game, unveiled a new trailer, and showcased concept art for the suit swap between Tōkon and Wolverine. While we haven’t seen these suits in action yet, the concept art gives us a glimpse of their designs. The Tōkon version that Insomniac is adding seems to be cel-shaded, aligning with the art style of Arc System Works’ fighter, which might make it look a bit out of place in the game’s photorealistic environment. Personally, I might skip wearing it during my playthrough of Wolverine, but I’m relieved to see that Logan’s proportions in this version put to rest any worries about him being depicted as tall enough to reach the top shelf. This one’s for all of us who are 5’5” and under!

The story trailer also features some scenes with Wolverine and Jean Grey, making it clear that he’s not quite tall enough to ride roller coasters.

The Tōkon version of Insomniac’s suit is still a bit of a mystery, as we only have character art against a white background for now. It looks promising, though, and it will be available in the fighter after its launch on August 6, with an update on September 1.

Additionally, Wolverine’s Battle Reborn suit will also be making its way to Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls on September 1. Get ready to don the Battle Reborn and show everyone why Wolverine is the best there is—no need to play nice about it!
