Wyze Launches Affordable Smart Scale Under $80 to Analyze Body Composition

Seven months after launching its $119.98 Ultra BodyScan smart scale, Wyze has rolled out a more budget-friendly version priced at $79.98, available now. This new model makes some trade-offs to achieve the lower price point. It lacks Wi-Fi connectivity, but you can still sync your measurements to Apple Health and Google Fit via Bluetooth through the Wyze mobile app. Instead of a customizable LCD screen, it features a straightforward 4.7-inch LED display for your health stats. However, the Wyze Scale BodyScan retains a retractable tethered handle with four additional electrodes, allowing for a comprehensive analysis of health metrics for your legs, arms, and torso.

The Wyze Scale BodyScan is equipped with a total of eight electrodes. The base includes four electrodes beneath a conductive glass surface, enabling accurate measurements without needing to position your feet precisely. When used with the handle, the BodyScan can assess muscle and fat distribution throughout your body while also tracking various metrics such as body weight, BMI, protein and water levels, bone mass, visceral and subcutaneous fat, and muscle mass.

Wyze asserts that this new scale can automatically identify and monitor metrics for up to eight different users, with the capability to take one-off measurements for an unlimited number of guests. While the Wyze mobile app is not necessary for using the scale or tracking metrics over time, it does offer the option to export a PDF report of your body composition, which can be shared with a doctor or personal trainer.
