X-Men Make Their Comeback in New Avengers: Doomsday Trailer
The X-Men are making a comeback in Avengers: Doomsday, as teased in the latest trailer, which might just be the most exciting one yet. This third teaser spotlights the X-Men, confirming the return of Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and James Marsden as Cyclops.
Like the previous teasers featuring Steve Rogers and Thor, this one carries a serious tone. It showcases a devastated Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, an older and more relaxed Charles Xavier alongside Erik Lehnsherr, and a furious Scott Summers unleashing his optic blasts while Sentinels loom ominously in the background. The overarching question remains: Will the younger heroes of the MCU be alright?
While Doctor Doom’s intentions regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s youth are still shrouded in mystery, hints suggest he might be targeting Franklin Richards, as hinted at the end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This could also extend to Steve Rogers’ child, Thor’s adopted daughter Love, and the teens training under Professor X and his mutant team. On a positive note, Cyclops’ outfit is spot-on with the comics (minus the yellow trunks).
However, the tone suggests that Doomsday might lead to the fourth on-screen death of Patrick Stewart’s Professor X.
Marvel is reportedly gearing up for at least one more teaser for Avengers: Doomsday, rumored to spotlight the Wakandans and members of the Fantastic Four. This teaser is expected to hit theaters this week, with a broader release next week.
The upcoming Avengers film also features Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, alongside a stellar cast of returning Marvel actors, including Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and many more.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, with a follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, scheduled for December 2027.
