Xbox addresses speculation about higher PlayStation pre-orders for GTA 6.

Xbox has addressed a claim suggesting that PlayStation 5 pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 6 are outpacing those for the Xbox Series X by an 8-to-1 margin. The eagerly awaited title from Rockstar Games has reportedly seen “record orders” on Xbox platforms.

Pre-orders for GTA 6 opened on June 25, and just a day later, data from an affiliate program indicated that “PlayStation is outperforming Xbox by a rate of 8-to-1” in pre-orders. This means that more gamers are clicking on PS5 affiliate links compared to those for the Xbox Series X.

Instead of responding directly on social media, Xbox chose to comment through another channel. A representative stated, “This doesn’t represent pre-order data. We’ve had record orders. People should wait for real data and not clicks on affiliate links.”

Xbox contends that while the click-through rate for PS5 pre-orders may be significantly higher, it doesn’t accurately reflect the actual pre-order numbers. Currently, neither PlayStation, Xbox, nor Take Two Interactive has released any official pre-order sales figures for GTA 6, leaving both claims unverified.

The assertion of “record orders” from Xbox suggests that all parties involved are satisfied with the game’s sales performance thus far. This statement also positions Xbox more favorably against PlayStation, especially as the competition between the two consoles heats up again.

This situation serves as a reminder to approach unofficial sales data with caution. GTA 6, in particular, is surrounded by a swirl of rumors and misinformation regarding its release, including speculation about a potential physical disc version.

Until PlayStation, Xbox, or Take Two provide official sales figures for GTA 6 after its launch on November 19, the true performance of the game across platforms remains uncertain.
