Xbox Launches User Feedback Portal, Highlighting Demand for Exclusives and Free Multiplayer

Microsoft has introduced a new user feedback tool called Xbox Player Voice, designed to give gamers a platform to express their concerns and suggestions. This initiative aims to enhance transparency regarding which improvements and changes Microsoft is prioritizing and the reasons behind those choices.

According to a recent blog post about the tool, “When you submit feedback, teams review and organize it so it can be understood and considered alongside other work. In some cases, ideas will move forward. In others, they may take longer to implement or may not be something we can act on. When there are meaningful updates, we’ll share them.”

Replacing the Xbox Cloud Gaming feedback portal, this tool is intended to be more comprehensive. Players can submit their ideas for the future of Xbox, and the company will keep them informed about the status of those requests. “Better visibility helps close the gap between what you tell us and what you see happen next on Xbox,” the company notes.

This structured approach is a significant improvement over the previous method of having random users message Xbox CEO Asha Sharma on social media with their requests. Currently, the top requests on Xbox Player Voice include “Exclusives,” “backwards compatible,” and “Make Online Multiplayer Free To Access.”

One user, KrisKlicks, expressed a desire for “Online multiplayer availability for all games across all generations of Xbox to be free, and all the features of Game Pass bundled into one subscription for $9.99 like Xbox Gold back in the day.” This comment reflects a growing frustration among console gamers who feel they should not have to pay for online multiplayer access while PC players enjoy the same games without that cost.

The new CEO has also indicated that she’s not in a hurry to make decisions regarding the company’s stance on exclusivity. This leaves open the possibility of a middle-ground approach where first-party titles like Gears of War: E-Day could launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC first, followed by a later release on PlayStation 5, similar to the strategy being employed for Forza Horizon 6.
