Xbox Unveils Updated Cloud Gaming Pricing Options

This shift transforms what was previously known as Xbox Cloud Gaming into Xbox Cloud Playtime, introducing a more flexible pay-as-you-go model.

The broader rollout of this program is anticipated in November, allowing users to purchase cloud gaming time on an a la carte basis, starting at $0.40 per hour. Here’s a look at the pricing packages:

These “Cloud playtime packs” offer ad-free, high-quality streaming. Additionally, Xbox is introducing an ad-supported streaming tier for those who want to test the service or are less concerned about connection quality and interruptions. This change comes as Xbox has begun to limit the streaming hours for existing Game Pass Ultimate subscribers each month.

When comparing prices to competitors like Geforce Now, Nvidia’s service requires users to own the games but offers up to 100 hours of “premium monthly playtime” for just $10. In contrast, Game Pass Ultimate, priced at $23 per month, limits streaming to 15 hours while providing immediate access to a vast library of games without the need for prior ownership on platforms like Steam.
