Your Ultimate Guide to Fireworks in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The summer update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons kicked off with swimming and diving, but the second part introduced a whole new way to celebrate the season: fireworks! Every Sunday in August, your island will light up with a fireworks show hosted by Jolly Redd. You can spend your bells on raffle tickets for a shot at winning unique festive prizes. Before diving into the details, let’s explore how to create your own custom fireworks designs.
**When and Where Are the Fireworks Shows?**
Fireworks shows light up every Sunday in August, starting at 7 PM local time, whether you’re on a Northern or Southern Hemisphere island. You don’t need to arrive right at 7 PM to enjoy the spectacle, but make sure to swing by before midnight when the show wraps up! The festivities take place in the plaza outside Resident Services, with Jolly Redd and Isabelle hosting the event. While the plaza is the main hub, you can catch the fireworks from any spot on your island with a clear view of the sky. In 2020, there are five Sundays in August, meaning five chances to enjoy the fireworks: August 2, August 9, August 16, August 23, and August 30.
**What Happens During a Fireworks Show?**
The highlight of the fireworks show is, of course, the dazzling display! You can even feature some of your own custom designs in the show. Redd will also host a raffle; keep reading to find out how it works and what prizes you can snag. As with any summer festival, your villagers will be hanging out in the plaza and might even gift you fireworks-related items like sparklers to enjoy during the show. Don’t forget to chat with Isabelle, who will hand you a bopper headwear item. The available boppers include:
– Bulb bopper
– Heart bopper
– Flower bopper
– Star bopper
You can collect multiple boppers in one night by visiting friends’ islands and chatting with their Isabelles, making it easier to gather them all.
**How to Set Up Custom Fireworks**
Before the fireworks show kicks off, you can add your own custom designs to the lineup. Just talk to Isabelle, and she’ll let you choose up to 10 designs to feature. Your selected designs will appear during the show alongside the regular fireworks. You can even update your designs throughout the event, so no need to stress if you didn’t log in before 7 PM.
**Redd’s Raffle: How to Enter and Prizes**
During the fireworks show, Jolly Redd will run a raffle in the plaza. This is your chance to win exclusive items, including fireworks and balloons, that are only available during these shows. To enter, simply click on the raffle box next to Redd. Each entry costs 500 bells, and there are 12 unique prizes to win. You’ll receive one of each prize before Redd starts recycling them, and while the prizes are numbered, what you receive after the first 12 is completely random.
The prizes include:
– Red sparkler
– Blue sparkler
– Fountain firework
– Bubble blower
– Uchiwa fan
– Pinwheel
– Tweeter
– Blue balloon
– Red balloon
– Yellow balloon
– Green balloon
– Pink balloon
Prizes 1 through 4 are consumables, while 5 through 7 are holdable items similar to tools. The fountain firework will turn into a “used fountain firework” after you use it, and you can toss it in any trash bin, including the one by Redd’s stand. Balloons can be placed as furniture or held, but be careful—holding them can lead to some clumsy moments, just like with King Tut’s mask!
