YouTube may be experimenting with removing the dislike button.

YouTube seems to be experimenting with the dislike button’s visibility on videos. Reports indicate that some users have noticed the dislike button has been moved to the three-dots submenu, with screenshots shared on social media platforms. Additionally, a Reddit user posted an image showing the dislike button completely missing from their view.

Currently, the dislike button is conveniently located next to the like button under videos. If it gets shifted to a submenu, accessing it would require extra steps, likely leading to fewer users utilizing it.

The extent of this test rollout remains uncertain, and there has been no immediate response from Google regarding the changes.

YouTube has previously shown a readiness to modify the dislike button’s functionality. In 2021, the platform hid the public dislike count to help “protect creators from harassment,” although creators still have access to those counts. Earlier this year, the dislike button was also removed from YouTube Shorts, with users encouraged to explore options in the three-dots menu instead.
