YouTuber Files Emotional Distress Lawsuit Against Billy Mitchell After Losing High Score Dispute
In a surprising twist, the ongoing saga of legal battles in the gaming community is set to continue, as YouTuber Karl Jobst has initiated a lawsuit against former Donkey Kong high score champion Billy Mitchell in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Jobst’s claims include “unauthorized appropriation of name or likeness,” “defamation,” and “intentional infliction of emotional distress.”
The lawsuit, filed on April 6, identifies Jobst as a “Pro Se Plaintiff,” indicating he is navigating the legal waters without an attorney. For context, Mitchell had previously triumphed in a defamation case against Jobst in the Australian District Court of Queensland on April 1, 2025.
However, the fallout from that case has only compounded Jobst’s troubles. Following the verdict, it became clear that contrary to Jobst’s assertions in his YouTube content and his “Legal Defence Fund” GoFundMe, Mitchell’s lawsuit was not about the cheating allegations surrounding his world records. Instead, it stemmed from Jobst’s claim that the tragic suicide of YouTuber Apollo Legend was partly due to a lawsuit Mitchell had filed against him. This revelation significantly damaged Jobst’s credibility, leading some fans to feel misled about the lawsuit’s true nature.
Interestingly, Jobst’s current lawsuit leans on several of Mitchell’s posts on X as evidence of defamation. One notable post includes Mitchell stating Jobst “SCAMMED $200,000, WENT BANKRUPT, AND LOST EVERY SHRED OF CREDIBILITY…” While Jobst uses these statements to argue that Mitchell accused him of deceiving his GoFundMe supporters, the lawsuit curiously does not mention Apollo Legend at all.
The suit concludes with Jobst claiming he has “suffered severe emotional distress, including mental anguish, humiliation, embarrassment, and ongoing emotional harm” as a direct result of Mitchell’s actions.
In a recent post on X, Mitchell appeared to allude to the new lawsuit, stating, “I look forward to winning Best Supporting Actor again.” This comment seems to reference the “Lowcow of the Year Awards 2025” hosted by Kiwi Farms, where Mitchell was awarded in the “Best Supporting Actor” category.
