Zohran Mamdani’s Twitch Mario Kart Session Suggests He Should Focus on Politics Instead
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani returned to Twitch for another episode of his “Talk With The People” show, focusing on his plans to enhance bus travel in the city. This follows the recent unveiling of the bus action plan, and to discuss the initiative, he teamed up with Assistant Commissioner for Transit Development Diniece Mendes for a live session of Mario Kart World. It seems Mamdani might want to stick to politics, as Mendes managed to outpace him while they chatted about the future of public transit in NYC.
Interestingly, Mamdani admitted he had never seen a Switch controller before this stream, which isn’t too surprising considering he previously claimed not to know much about Minecraft beyond its movie adaptation. The duo kicked off their racing on the Toad’s Turnstile track, a fitting choice given its bus theme.
Amid the playful banter and discussions about the new bus action plan, Mamdani encouraged viewers to share their own bus experiences in New York. However, the team managing the NYC Mayor’s Twitch account has learned from past streams, where the chat was flooded with inappropriate comments and crude ASCII art. Now, they’ve implemented chat restrictions to keep things more civil. The chat is now buzzing with requests for the mayor to try games like Marvel Rivals and Overwatch, and I can’t help but think he could rally even the most toxic players into a solid team in just one match.
