Zootopia 2 Surpasses $915.8 Million, Outpacing Superman, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, and Jurassic World Rebirth
Zootopia 2 has already outperformed Superman at the box office, and it has now also surpassed both Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle and Jurassic World Rebirth.
The animated Disney sequel has racked up an impressive worldwide total of $915.8 million. This means it has outpaced Demon Slayer’s $768.9 million and Jurassic World Rebirth’s $868.9 million. With a projected trajectory, Zootopia 2 is eyeing Minecraft Movie’s $957.9 million, as forecasts suggest it will cross the billion-dollar threshold this week.
This success isn’t surprising, given that the original Zootopia grossed over a billion dollars and won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. The sequel had a record-breaking opening weekend, pulling in $556 million.
The story picks up shortly after the first film, with the unlikely duo of Nick Wilde the fox and Judy Hopps the bunny now officially partners at the ZPD. They soon find themselves embroiled in another conspiracy involving reptiles, thanks to Ke Huy Quan’s character, Gary De’Snake.
Disney has already celebrated one billion-dollar hit this year with Lilo & Stitch, making it a strong year for the studio, even as Marvel films like Captain America: Brave New World and The Fantastic Four: First Steps have struggled at the box office. Recent reports indicate that Disney has crossed the $5 billion mark globally, thanks to Zootopia 2’s latest weekend performance, making it the first studio to reach this milestone in 2025. Lilo & Stitch is currently the only Hollywood film ranking above Zootopia 2 on the 2025 box office chart, with China’s Ne Zha 2 leading the pack at a staggering $1.9 billion.
While Zootopia 3 hasn’t been officially announced, an Easter egg in the film and its post-credits scene suggest that a third installment is in the works, potentially focusing on birds, a species yet to be introduced in the Zootopia universe.
Zootopia 2 is currently playing in theaters.
