Ardiis Banned from VCT Co-Streaming: Here’s the Reason Behind It
Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks has been suspended from co-streaming VCT matches due to the use of discriminatory language during a broadcast. This violation of conduct guidelines has led to an official penalty from VALORANT Esports EMEA and a simultaneous suspension of collaboration from NAVI.
Ardiis, a well-known figure in the VCT scene as a Latvian or British pro-turned-streamer, gained recognition for his time with FunPlus Phoenix and Natus Vincere. In July 2026, he became embroiled in controversy when Riot issued a disciplinary ruling, prompting NAVI to sever ties with him.
The official statement from VALORANT Esports EMEA confirms that disciplinary measures have been enacted against Ardiis for his behavior during co-streams.
“Ardis ‘Ardiis’ Svarenieks violated Riot Games’ Terms of Service through the use of discriminatory and offensive language during a co-stream. Riot Games does not tolerate discriminatory conduct or language of any kind, including conduct targeting an individual’s race, ethnicity, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, religion, nationality, or any other protected characteristic,” the statement outlines.
Following Riot’s announcement, NAVI released a direct response. They emphasized that open watch parties are subject to the same conduct expectations as official broadcasts, which include prohibitions against discriminatory or hateful language.
NAVI condemned the behavior as “discriminatory conduct or language of any kind” and asserted that such actions “should never be tolerated.”
“We respect and fully support Riot Games’ decision. There is a line that should never be crossed, and discriminatory conduct or language of any kind should never be tolerated. Effective immediately, NAVI is suspending its cooperation with Ardiis.”
VCT EMEA’s tweet indicated that he will be suspended until August 19, stating: “Any future violations may result in additional disciplinary action, up to and including permanent loss of rights to co-stream VCT.”
During this suspension, he is prohibited from hosting watch parties using the tournament feed. NAVI’s decision also impacts his status as a branded streamer, cutting off official support, promotions, and likely any contracted co-streaming rights.
This incident highlights that violating Riot’s rules can lead to the loss of co-streaming privileges, regardless of a person’s background as a former pro or partnered streamer. Those who focus on building their brand around watch parties must adhere to Riot’s guidelines and maintain strict moderation to avoid language that could be perceived as discriminatory or harmful.
Since this is a month-long suspension rather than a permanent ban, Ardiis may return to co-streaming after the disciplinary period concludes. His future in this regard will depend on whether Riot reinstates his co-streaming rights and if NAVI decides to resume their partnership or keep their distance.
In the meantime, there’s plenty of action happening in other regions, particularly in VCT Americas and Pacific Stage 2.
