Bin Fined $22,000 by LPL for Skipping High-Fives After Match
Bilibili Gaming’s top laner, Chen “Bin” Zebin, has been hit with a hefty fine of RMB 150,000 (around $22,000 USD) by the LPL for skipping mandatory fan high-fives during the player walkout ahead of BLG’s match on June 3.
An investigation by LPL officials concluded that Bin’s actions breached competition rules related to player conduct and professionalism. Additionally, BLG was fined RMB 50,000 (approximately $7,000 USD) for not adequately managing and supervising their player.
The League of Legends Pro Esports discipline management team announced the penalties on June 5, highlighting that Bin’s behavior detracted from the competition’s standard operations and the overall experience for fans present.
The investigation revealed that Bin did not engage in fan high-fives during the player walkout. The LPL determined this action violated Article 12.2.2 of the league’s competition rules, which pertains to player conduct and professional responsibilities during official events. Along with the financial penalty, Bin received a public reprimand and has been mandated to undergo training and educational programs focused on professional conduct.
The league also held BLG partially accountable for the incident, stating that the organization failed to properly manage and guide its players prior to the match, neglecting its supervisory responsibilities under Article 12.5.1 of the LPL Competition Rules.
Consequently, BLG was fined RMB 50,000 (about $7,000 USD) and received a public reprimand.
The disciplinary notice underscored the importance of player interactions with fans as a vital aspect of the league experience, emphasizing that all participants must fulfill their obligations both on and off the stage. The league stated, “Fulfilling obligations on the field is the cornerstone of all participants’ professionalism, and effective management by clubs is the guarantee for the league’s operation.”
This ruling follows the recent benching of BNK FearX’s AD carry, Diable, for missing a fan event and citing ongoing internal issues. Diable has since joined Nongshim RedForce, illustrating a trend of organizations taking disciplinary measures for conduct outside of official matches.
The LPL expressed hope that this punishment serves as a cautionary tale for all teams and players, urging them to adhere to league regulations, respect spectators, and uphold the professional standards expected of elite esports competitors.
As BLG aims for another LPL title, they are set to face JD Gaming next in the lower bracket quarterfinals of LPL 2026 Split 2.
