Cristiano Ronaldo has officially joined the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC) as its Global Ambassador, marking a significant moment for both the legendary footballer and the esports industry. Announced by the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF), the news was shared by Ronaldo himself across social platforms, expressing pride in supporting a new generation of digital athletes.

EWC 2025: The Biggest Stage in Esports History
Scheduled to run from July 8 to August 24, 2025, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Esports World Cup will feature:

- A record-breaking $70 million prize pool
- 2,000 players representing 200 clubs from over 100 countries
EWC 2025 will introduce unique competitive formats, including national team showdowns, global club championships, and creator-focused contests. Titles include Valorant, Dota 2, EA Sports FC 25, League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, PUBG, Mobile Legends, and even Chess.com, with Magnus Carlsen also serving as Global Ambassador for chess.
Ronaldo will be the face of EWC’s global campaign, helping build excitement and awareness throughout the tournament’s seven-week run. He will also appear as a playable character in FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves, part of this year’s official game lineup.

Ronaldo’s relationship with the EWC isn’t new. He participated in its 2023 global launch and attended last year’s closing ceremony, where he celebrated Team Falcons’ club championship win.
