G2 and Wizards of the Coast unveil new rotating Counter-Strike jersey partnership
G2 Esports has entered a long-term partnership with Wizards of the Coast, featuring various titles from the publisher on its Counter-Strike 2 jersey. Kicking off the collaboration is Exodus, the upcoming sci-fi RPG from Archetype Entertainment, with plans for other Wizards games to take its place over time.
The Exodus jersey made its debut at the Esports World Cup on August 12, during G2’s first match against M80. G2 clinched a narrow victory in a best-of-one, winning 13-11 on Mirage, which provided immediate visibility for the new design at a major Counter-Strike tournament boasting 32 teams and a $2 million prize pool.
This unique rotating format distinguishes the partnership from typical esports jersey sponsorships. Wizards can utilize the same space to promote different titles throughout the duration of the agreement, effectively transforming G2’s Counter-Strike kit into a dynamic advertising platform for its games. However, neither party has disclosed how frequently the design will change or which Wizards title will follow Exodus.
There’s no shortage of potential candidates, as Wizards owns popular franchises like Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons, along with game studios such as Archetype Entertainment, Invoke Studios, and Skeleton Key. While the announcement doesn’t guarantee that Magic or Dungeons & Dragons will feature on future jerseys, the rotation will draw from the broader Wizards portfolio for now.
G2 has been thriving with its collaborative brands for some time, partnering with names like Red Bull, McDonald’s, Ralph Lauren, Logitech, and Herman Miller, alongside various betting and gaming companies. Recent entertainment collaborations have included One Piece and Solo Leveling, with the One Piece partnership even resulting in a full streetwear collection released in June.
The Wizards partnership kicks off with Exodus, a new single-player action RPG set to launch in early 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The game promises interstellar travel, time dilation, and a vision of humanity’s evolution approximately 40,000 years into the future.
Exodus is also a key project in Hasbro’s current video game strategy. The company has indicated that 2026 will be a peak year for digital game investments, as both Exodus and Invoke Studios’ Warlock approach their final development stages. However, Hasbro plans to cut digital spending by at least 25 percent by 2028, following a $56 million impairment recorded in July after canceling several projects slated for 2028 and beyond. This partnership is clearly set to benefit Hasbro as well.
