Ghost Gaming Launches Build Together Game Jam

Ghost Gaming has unveiled an exciting event titled “Build Together: Gaming, Storytelling & Belonging,” set to take place from February 20 to 22 in Atlanta, Georgia, across multiple venues.

The aim of Build Together is to unite students from various communities through the art of storytelling and game development, fostering connections and enhancing technical skills.

This three-day event is organized by Ghost Gaming, Ghost Launchpad, Shine A Light Gaming, and Georgia Humanities, with support from partners like the National Black Empowerment Council, Technorganic, and the Georgia Game Developers Association.

Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities, including a panel discussion, interactive game development workshops, and a 48-hour Game Jam focused on the theme of collaboration. The game jam will be hosted at Georgia State University and Spelman College, coinciding with Spelman’s HBCU Game Jam.

“Gaming is one of the most powerful storytelling platforms in the world, and when it’s inclusive, it becomes a place where people don’t just play together—they belong together,” stated Todd Harris, CEO of Ghost Gaming. “Build Together is about engaging communities in the creative process, merging technology with the humanities, and empowering the next generation of creators to express their voices. By building together, we can craft stronger games, richer stories, and more vibrant communities.”

The event aims to harness the power of gaming to foster unity, provide skill development in collaboration with partner organizations, and promote positive social impact through storytelling and teamwork within the local community. Participants will be encouraged to develop original games during the 48-hour game jam.

Additionally, the Game Jam will feature a total prize pool of $12,000 USD, distributed across various categories.

While participants are free to use any game engine, Unreal Editor for Fortnite is recommended.

Registration is currently open at Georgia State University CMII (for anyone aged 18 and older) and Spelman College HBCU (for students enrolled at HBCUs).

For those who may not know, Ghost Gaming is a competitive gaming and lifestyle organization based in Atlanta, with teams competing in titles like Fortnite, Rocket League, Valorant, and Counter-Strike 2.
