Riot Games to distribute $100M+ to VALORANT Champions Tour teams in 2025

Riot Games has revealed plans to distribute over $100 million USD to partnered teams competing in the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) during the 2025 season, marking a significant milestone for the game’s global esports scene.

This revenue share, fueled by the ongoing success of VALORANT’s in-game esports digital items like team skins, the Season Capsule, and the Champions Collection, represents the largest annual payout to teams in VCT history. In 2024, the total shared amount was $78.4 million among 44 VCT teams.

This year, more than $86 million of the total revenue came directly from digital goods, a substantial increase from $44.3 million in 2024, reflecting a remarkable 94 percent year-over-year growth and highlighting the robustness of VALORANT’s esports economy.

The announcement caps off a successful year for the VALORANT Champions Tour, which saw record-breaking viewership and engagement across its global events. Masters Bangkok and Toronto emerged as some of the most-watched Masters events in VCT history, while Champions Paris featured an impressive opening ceremony and a grand final that crowned NRG as the World Champions in 2025.

“We witnessed incredible competition, unforgettable narratives, and record engagement from players and fans worldwide. Our community continues to elevate this sport, and their passion drives one of the healthiest and most sustainable ecosystems in esports,” stated Leo Faria, Global Head of VALORANT Esports.

Fan engagement also hit new heights this year, largely due to innovative digital experiences. The Pick’Ems saw participation from over two million players during the Game Changers tournament, while Shotcall’s beta generated millions of live predictions. A revamped broadcast HUD contributed to record watch time and audience interaction throughout the season.

Looking forward, the developer has outlined significant updates for the VCT in 2026, including a new open Path to Champions that will allow non-partner teams to vie for a spot at Champions Shanghai during Stage 2. The circuit will also broaden its global roadshows, bringing live events to new cities. The 2026 season kicks off on January 15, featuring Masters events in Santiago and London, culminating at Champions Shanghai in October.

With substantial investment, ongoing global expansion, and a dynamic ecosystem, the VALORANT Champions Tour continues to set the benchmark for long-term sustainability in esports.
