Three Challenger Teams Advance to VCT EMEA Stage 2 Playoffs

In the VCT EMEA Stage 2, four Challenger teams battled it out, with three making it to the Playoffs, while notable squads like Fnatic and Team Heretics saw their 2026 seasons come to an early end.

As of August 16, the Play-Ins stage has concluded, allowing the top four Challenger teams from each VCT region a chance to qualify for VALORANT Champions 2026.

The EMEA Play-Ins featured eight VCT teams facing off against the Challenger squads, with only four spots available in the Playoffs. Ultimately, three of the four advancing teams were Challengers, with FUT Esports being the sole VCT representative.

Enterprise Esports was the first to secure a Playoff spot, cruising through the upper bracket. They triumphed over Fnatic (2:1), Gentle Mates (2:0), and another Challenger team, Fire Flux Esports (2:0), which also qualified but via the lower bracket.

Fire Flux Esports had a commendable run, defeating PACIFIC Esports (2:0) and Team Heretics (2:1) before dropping to the lower bracket, where they faced Joblife and won (2:0).

Eintracht Frankfurt rounded out the qualifiers. Despite a loss to GIANTX (1:2), they made a remarkable comeback in the lower bracket, eliminating Gentle Mates, Team Heretics, and Eternal Fire, a strong Ascension team that had performed well against Tier 1 competition throughout the year.

Following Masters London, Fnatic was ranked #9, Eternal Fire at #15, Team Heretics at #17, GIANTX at #24, NAVI at #25, and Gentle Mates at #29. This year, the EMEA region has struggled to keep pace with the Americas and Pacific.

Fnatic, who had a strong showing against NRG at VALORANT Champions 2025, has not qualified for any global events this year. While this is disappointing for fans and teams alike, the Tier 2 scene in the region is heating up, with more talent expected to emerge through open qualifiers next year.

The next phase is the VCT EMEA Stage 2 Playoffs, scheduled from August 20 to August 30, culminating in the finals in Barcelona. The top two teams from the playoffs will earn a spot at Champions Shanghai. The bracket is set, featuring Team Liquid vs. FUT Esports and Team Vitality vs. Enterprise Esports in the upper bracket.

Fire Flux Esports and Eintracht Frankfurt, having qualified through the lower bracket, will also enter the competition from that side. With only one Champions spot available among these teams and no room for error, they must win four consecutive series to secure their place at Champions.
