Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Gets a Release Date — and a Brand New Belmont

Konami has officially confirmed a release date for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, and the iconic gothic franchise is heading back to its roots in a big way. The game launches on October 15, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC — with a Nintendo Switch version confirmed for later in the year. It is the 26th main entry in the Castlevania series and the first traditional 2D installment in the original timeline since 2008 — an 18-year gap that fans of the classic side-scrolling style have been patiently enduring.

Meet Rose Belmont — The New Face of the Franchise

The game is set in 1499 Paris, 23 years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. Players step into the role of Rose Belmont, daughter of legendary vampire hunter Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades, as she battles through the burning streets of Paris and deep into Dracula’s castle. Rose carries Dracula’s curse in her right arm, wields the sacred Vampire Killer whip, and has access to tarot-based Arcana powers alongside a full range of additional weapons — giving combat a depth that goes well beyond the series’ traditional whip-and-jump formula.

The game is being developed by Evil Empire with Motion Twin in a consulting role, both of whom previously worked together on the Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania expansion, making them a natural fit for a project that needs to honour decades of franchise legacy while still feeling fresh.

What’s in the Pre-Order and Midnight Edition?

Pre-orders are open right now across all platforms. The Midnight Edition includes alternate costumes for Rose, a Digital Sound and Art Gallery, and an in-game relic item. Anyone who pre-orders or purchases early will also receive an Alucard-style costume as a bonus — a nod that longtime fans will immediately appreciate.

The Castlevania franchise celebrates its 40th anniversary in September 2026, making the October 15 release date feel perfectly timed. Just in time for Halloween, the Belmont legacy is making its long-overdue return.
