Larian Studios Charts a New Path with Two Original RPGs
The developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 are working on new titles beyond the Dungeons & Dragons universe.
Moving Beyond Baldur’s Gate
After the global success of Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios has confirmed it’s working on two new role-playing games. However, these won’t be connected to existing IPs like Dungeons & Dragons. Instead, the team is focusing on fresh, original worlds—built from scratch. Larian’s decision signals a desire to evolve creatively without being tied to external licenses.
A Global Push for Innovation
To bring these ambitious new RPGs to life, Larian has expanded its global presence by opening a new studio in Warsaw, Poland—its seventh worldwide. This new location joins a network that includes offices in Ghent, Barcelona, Dublin, Quebec, Kuala Lumpur, and Guildford. The Warsaw team will play a key role in developing these narrative-driven experiences.
What Fans Can Expect
While details about the games remain under wraps, CEO Swen Vincke is optimistic, calling the projects “possibly our best work ever.” Though he’s eager to reveal more, he also reminded fans that development will take time. It’s not confirmed whether these titles will continue the Divinity series or introduce brand-new settings, but Larian promises the same rich storytelling, player choice, and immersive gameplay that defined Baldur’s Gate 3.
