Marvel Rivals Teases Swimsuit Skins in Upcoming Summer Crossover

Marvel Rivals is diving into summer with a stylish twist—swimsuit-themed skins are on the way. The reveal came through a recent announcement from Marvel Comics, which confirmed the return of the long-dormant Marvel Swimsuit Special this July, with designs directly tied to Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Swimsuit Special Returns After 30 Years

Titled Marvel Swimsuit Special: Friends, Foes, and Rivals #1, the comic is set to launch on July 9, marking the first Swimsuit Special in nearly three decades. This time, it’s more than just fun splash pages—it’s also a teaser for what’s coming to Marvel Rivals.

According to Marvel, the issue will feature character swimsuit designs that will later appear as in-game skins. While details are still under wraps, the timing lines up with a possible late July or early August in-game event to match the summer vibes.

What to Expect from the Skins

Though not all characters featured in the comic will make it into the game, several names have caught players’ attention. Characters like Black Widow and Psylocke are expected to receive these themed skins, while others—like Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, and T’Challa—have also been teased, albeit more tongue-in-cheek.

The comic reportedly showcases more than 15 characters, many of whom aren’t in Marvel Rivals just yet, such as She-Hulk, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Rogue, Wasp, Mary Jane, and Captain Marvel. However, some of these—like Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Captain Marvel—have been leaked as upcoming additions to the game, meaning their beachwear looks could eventually hit the servers.

Expect the usual swimsuit variety: trunks, speedos, bikinis, and one-pieces. While Marvel hasn’t confirmed if these skins will be unlockable through gameplay or premium cosmetics, the designs are being heavily promoted through the comic’s release.

A Cross-Media Power Move

This crossover is part of Marvel’s broader push to support Marvel Rivals, which continues to grow in popularity with regular content drops like the recent Emma Frost update in Season 2. The return of the Swimsuit Special feels tailor-made to fit the game’s more stylish, character-driven aesthetic.

Marvel themselves put it best in the announcement:

“This super-sized special features splash page after splash page of gorgeous art, but with a story so you can pretend you’re reading it for the articles…”
