Ubisoft Is Reportedly Already Working on Another Assassin’s Creed Remake — And It May Be AC 1
With Black Flag Resynced still weeks away from launch, the rumour mill is already spinning about what Ubisoft has quietly lined up next. According to a fresh wave of reports and leaks, another Assassin’s Creed remake is already in early development — and all signs point to the game that started it all.
What the Reports Are Saying
The story broke during a recent episode of the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, where editor-in-chief Tom Henderson claimed that Ubisoft is actively working on a second Assassin’s Creed remake alongside Black Flag Resynced. Henderson described the project as centred around one of the franchise’s earliest entries, though he stopped short of naming the specific title. Shortly after, prominent French Assassin’s Creed leaker j0nathan stepped in with more context, stating that a contact of his had tipped him off about a similar project as far back as 2023 — adding that the target is almost certainly the original 2007 Assassin’s Creed, starring Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad.
Why AC1 Makes the Most Sense
Of all the older entries in the series, the original game has one of the strongest cases for a full remake. Its story set the foundation for everything that came after, yet its gameplay has aged considerably compared to more modern entries. It’s also the only mainline Assassin’s Creed title that has never been ported to PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, meaning an entirely new generation of players has never had access to it on current hardware. A full rebuild would give Ubisoft the opportunity to bring Altaïr’s story to a modern audience while dramatically overhauling the mechanics that have held the game back over the years.
No Confirmation Yet — But the Pattern Is Clear
Ubisoft has not officially acknowledged this project, and any release would almost certainly come after Black Flag Resynced launches in July 2026. However, reports suggest that further remakes will continue entering development depending on how well Resynced performs commercially. Given the strong hype surrounding Black Flag’s return, it seems only a matter of time before Ubisoft makes this one official.
