A Guide to Acquiring Chromite in Palworld

Chromite isn’t exactly a rare find in Palworld, but you will need a specific tool or pal to mine it, which sets it apart from other resources. To help you out, I’ll guide you on how to use a metal detector to initially gather Chromite and also share a passive farming method for larger quantities, so you can prepare your first batch of Hexolite when the time comes.

You can locate Chromite underground on Feybreak Island, just south of Mount Obsidian. To extract it, you’ll need to either craft a Metal Detector or enlist the help of a Smokie. Using Smokie’s partner skill is the simplest way to start farming, but if you have the materials, crafting a Metal Detector is worth it. While it’s a bit pricey to make, it’s much quicker and doesn’t occupy a pal slot.

The Metal Detector is user-friendly and automatically scans the ground as you explore. In contrast, if you opt for Smokie’s partner skill, you’ll need to repeatedly press the E key while moving around. When either method picks up on Chromite, a rocky node marked by a blue beacon will appear. You can then harvest it with a pickaxe, just like any other ore.

If you’re patient, you can also passively farm Chromite by hatching little Smokies. Just don’t get too attached, as those Dark Eggs are destined for the conveyor. Here’s how it works:

It’s a bit grim, but it gets the job done. Each Smokie you send through the conveyor will yield Chromite, making it an easy, passive alternative to scouring the map for nodes if you don’t mind the wait for the eggs.
