A Guide to Finishing The Cult’s Recipe in Gothic Remake

Completing the Cult’s Recipe quest in Gothic Remake is essential for impressing Diego and securing a recommendation to join the Old Camp. In this mission, Dexter sends you on a journey to the Swamp Camp to steal Cor Kalom’s recipe for crafting mystical hallucinogens.

The most challenging aspect of this quest is navigating the perilous route to the Swamp Camp, teeming with enemies that can take you down in a single hit due to your lack of armor. Here’s how to make it there safely, acquire the recipe, and lockpick the chest that holds it.

After receiving the task from Dexter, your first step is to reach the Swamp Camp. Before heading out, ensure you have a few lockpicks—these can be purchased from Mordrag, who is located in the market area near Dexter. To find him, head east past the fire pit towards the arena, and look for him sitting on a bench in front of a shack. It’s also wise to grab a map of the Colony.

Next, talk to Baal Parvez, the cultist with face tattoos in the market area near Dexter. He’ll offer to guide you to the Swamp Camp, which is a treacherous journey. Follow him and let him handle the tougher enemies, but stay close enough to earn some XP. Upon reaching the camp, inform the Templars at the entrance of your desire to join, then head inside and ask Lester to take you to “Cor Kalom’s Laboratory.”

The video guide picks up from where Lester leaves you. Ascend the spiral staircase to reach the laboratory and find Cor Kalom. The recipe you need is locked in a chest within the lab. The video demonstrates how to pick the lock, and surprisingly, Cor Kalom and his assistant don’t seem to mind your actions. This is of little consequence if you plan to join the Old Camp, which is likely your goal for this quest.

Once you have the Old Recipe, retrace your steps back to the Old Camp with Baal Parvez. If you forget the route, you can consult your colony map by pressing M. Stick to the path and keep moving to evade enemies. Present the recipe to Dexter, and he’ll agree to put in a good word with Diego.
