Activating Battery Saver Mode on Your Nintendo Switch 2
If you own a Nintendo Switch 2, prioritizing the battery preservation mode is a smart move! Just to clarify, this isn’t about saving battery power in the way your phone does when it dips below 20% and starts shutting off features to stretch its life.
The Battery Preservation Mode on the Nintendo Switch 2 is designed to extend the lifespan of its built-in lithium battery. Over time, batteries in handheld devices can degrade, leading to a decrease in their maximum capacity. This mode adjusts certain console features to help slow down that degradation.
To activate battery preservation mode on your Switch 2, head to the System Settings Menu, select “System,” and then toggle on “Stop Charging Around 90%.”
This feature does exactly what it suggests—preventing the console from charging when the battery is nearly full. While this may result in slightly less playtime per charge, it significantly enhances the console’s longevity, giving you more time before any maintenance is needed.
So, just toggle that setting, and you can dive back into your Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough, race in Mario Kart, or enjoy whatever game has you hooked.
It’s a great quality-of-life feature, and it’s a bit surprising that it isn’t enabled by default, but some players are already savvy about charging practices.
