Arc Raiders: Essential Combat Recon Guide and Walkthrough

The Combat Recon quest in Arc Raiders takes you on an adventure through Buried City, where your mission is to scout out specific locations and eliminate Spotters to collect their parts. However, since Spotters are usually found near the dangerous Bombardiers, this task can be quite challenging. Here’s a guide to help you locate all the scouting points in Buried City and take down those Spotters to complete your quest.

To finish the Combat Recon quest, you’ll need to identify three cover spots in Buried City, as indicated on the map and detailed below. After that, take out two Spotters and return a Spotter Relay to Shani in Speranza. Remember, Spotters are always in the vicinity of Bombardiers, so while you don’t have to engage the massive explosive machines directly, you’ll need to maneuver around them. If you’re tackling this mission during the Arc Raiders Bird City map modifier, you’ll benefit from additional ziplines between rooftops, making your navigation a bit smoother!

Start by heading to the roof of the Parking Garage and then into the stairwell on the North side. You’ll find an interaction point here to mark this objective.

Next, make your way to the West side of the Park in the town center. The interaction point is located next to a large bus that’s half-buried in sand, specifically on the side closer to the buildings. Be cautious, as this park is often swarming with high-level robots and offers limited cover.

Then, proceed South to Plaza Rosa and climb to the rooftop of the westernmost building in the area. Open the skylights and drop inside to find the interaction point tucked away in the building’s attic.

Spotters are the small, hovering robots that accompany Bombardiers, so you’ll need to locate a Bombardier to find them. Fortunately, all three areas you just explored—the Parking Centre, Marano Park, and Main Street—can spawn Bombardiers along with their Spotters. However, be warned: Bombardiers are extremely lethal, launching arcing mortar shots that deal significant damage. Spotters are designed to detect enemies and mark them for the Bombardier, which then unleashes devastating long-range explosive shots.

I recommend attacking the Spotters from within buildings, as rooftop cover will give you the best chance of survival. Once you take them down, you have about thirty seconds before the Bombardier produces more. Eliminate the Spotters, then find a hiding spot and wait for the Bombardier to lose track of you. Once it’s no longer aggressive, let it move away before looting the Spotters for the Spotter Relay. While they aren’t particularly valuable in Arc Raiders, you can safely hand it over to Shani without worry.
