Beginner’s Guide to Fortnite Droid Tycoon: Tips for Upgrading, Expanding, and Rebirthing

Fortnite is back with its annual Star Wars celebration, and this time, it brings three exciting new Creative experiences. One standout addition is Droid Tycoon, which puts a galactic spin on the classic Steal a Brainrot formula. Think less Ballerina Cappucina and more BB-8, but with all the familiar progression systems and upgrade mechanics intact.

To help you launch your Droid Tycoon venture from a simple Tatooine test run to a thriving robot empire, here are some essential tips.

Droid Tycoon revolves around smart investments. You’ll start by spending Credits to acquire basic droids, set them to work generating more Credits, and then trade them in for pricier models as your operation grows.

While the gameplay loop is straightforward, there are key strategies to keep in mind as you begin. First, focus on upgrading your base. Expanding your droid slots can significantly boost your earnings, and aim to purchase cheaper droids with special modifiers like Gold or Diamond to maximize your returns.

Don’t overlook the scrap pile! Hitting the scrap heap with your pickaxe is the best way to earn money until you can afford rare droids. This method levels up over time, rewarding you with more Credits, so keep at it.

Pay attention to your droids’ abilities as well. Each droid can accompany you instead of working in your factory, providing valuable buffs. For instance, the common CB can enhance your pickaxe’s level for free. You can switch companions whenever you like, so spend time with each droid to discover their unique perks.

Droid Tycoon also distinguishes itself from other Brainrot-style games with side objectives scattered across Tatooine. Certain tasks, like repairing moisture evaporators, require specific droids, while others, such as fending off hostile Stormtroopers, can be tackled with just your blaster.

Completing these side objectives rewards you with crates containing random loot. While common crates typically yield Credits, you might also snag Upgrade Chips and other rare items. Additionally, don’t forget to send your droids on passive missions from your base’s shipyard!

Rebirth is a crucial milestone in any tycoon game, and Droid Tycoon is no different. Once your base is operational, you can check your Rebirth requirements at a kiosk near the entrance.

If you have the required droids and enough Credits, you can reset your progress for permanent upgrades. The Rebirth system in Droid Tycoon is quite generous; you retain all your droids after paying the Credits cost.

Some higher-level Rebirth requirements will ask for upgraded droids, so keep an eye out for unusual color schemes. If a droid has a funky look, it likely needs to be Gold, Diamond, Rainbow, or another special variant.

This is where droid upgrades come into play. While you can purchase droids with special modifiers directly from the conveyor belt, you can also negotiate with Tatooine’s residents to enhance your favorite droids.

The droid upgrade vendor is tucked away in a shady shop behind the cantina, where you’ll find most NPCs. He’ll upgrade your droids in exchange for Upgrade Chips, which you earn from those side objectives. The first upgrade from default to Gold rank costs five Upgrade Chips, and the prices only climb from there.

In addition to the droid upgrade vendor, you can find NPCs and merchants inside the cantina who will trade droids and offer various deals. One vendor can upgrade your pickaxe for a price, and there’s even a shady character who lets you gamble for a chance at a free droid upgrade.

Make sure to check in at the cantina regularly to see what the NPCs have to offer. Sometimes, they’ll request a common droid and reward you with something unexpected. Just be cautious of PVP-hungry players lurking outside your base; they’re not afraid to take a shot at you.

As you expand your base and reach higher Rebirth levels, you can start hunting for the rarest droids in the game, including BB-8, who only appears during the special BB-8 Event. Keep an eye on the massive countdown timer in the center of the map to ensure you don’t miss out!
