Completing the Close ThreatinCrimson Desert quest marks the final step in the Extinguishing the Last Flames mission. Throughout the quest, you’ve roamed Hernand at Shakatu’s request, interrogating suspects and gathering evidence to uncover who betrayed the guild to the bandits.
In this last phase, you’ll need to answer some questions and identify the guilty party. Here’s what you need to do to wrap up Close Threat.
After visiting all suspects and collecting the necessary items as directed, you can approach Shakatu to name a suspect. The new leader of the Goldleaf Guild will ask you to choose one item from each suspect’s testimony that either proves their innocence or guilt.
Keep in mind that after selecting a testimony, the screen may freeze without options appearing. If this happens, simply press the input indicated in the bottom right to bring up the choices.
The correct answers to select in order are:
Once you’ve completed this, Shakatu will identify Grimzle as the culprit. Head to the ranch just east of the Goldleaf Guildhouse, where you’ll find Grimzle in conversation with his accomplice. A cutscene will play as you catch him, and then you’ll need to tie him up like any other bounty—though feel free to give him a couple of hits for good measure.
Mount your horse and ride back along the road to the top of Unicorn Cliff and the Goldleaf Guildhouse, where Shakatu will be waiting. Another cutscene will play, concluding the Extinguishing the Last Flames quest. Your reward? A stylish cape, a valuable item, and a hefty chunk of Contribution.
